Last year I had the privilege of applying for a building permit to build 100 parking garages for an apartment complex located in Franklin. This $1,000,000 project was scrapped because the City of Franklin was totally unreasonable in their requirement that we add an additional access road to the property. This road would reduce the reponse time of emergency vehicles by as much as two-minutes. To quote Franklin Fire Marshall Andy King, "If you think two minutes is insignificant, try holding your breath that long." The planning commission agreed with his argument and we were forced to scrap the project due to the added cost of the second access road.
I find it ironic that the City of Franklin could get so excited about shaving two-minutes from the response time for their residents, yet they stand firmly behind WMC in their attemps to ensure a 30+ minute drive for residents of Spring Hill to seek emergency care.

| In August 2006, two months after my elderly parents moved down to Spring Hill to be closer to me, my mother had a stroke at home. EMT's were called to transport her to the hospital. I was working in downtown Nashville at the time and had a friend immediately drive me to the Maury County Hospital. When I arrived from downtown Nashville approximately 40 minutes later my mother had also just arrived at Maury County Regional Hospital in Columbia. It took just as long to get her to the hospital as it did for me to drive from Nashville. Had this been a life-threatening stroke, she probably would have died before getting to the hospital. Due to the distance between Columbia, Spring Hill, and Franklin, as well as the traffic delays, I believe Spring Hill needs our own hospital to care for the people of our city, especially in emergency situations. |

| I am a new resident to spring hill, from California. This is a great neighborhood and one that has grown quickly. The nearest hospital to my community is 30 minutes away. A single minute can be the difference between life and death. This hospital is a requirement, the revenue concerns from other medical organizations in the area should not be primary concern, our communities health should be. |

| As a resident of Spring Hill, I too am very much in favor of having the hospital built. I have read the signs posted on local roads referring to this website many times, but felt that I had no power to make a difference one way or the other. While reading the information on this site it occurred to me that I do have the power of prayer. I stopped then and said a prayer silently. I've also made a commitment to say a prayer for the timely completion of a new hospital every day for the next month. I believe prayers are heard and answered. If, like me, you sometimes feel that you can't change anything, remember that you have the power of prayer. Focus on what you can do. |

| In October of 2007 my wife had a miscarriage in the middle of the night. It was 2:00 in the morning when we headed from our Spring Hill home to WMC. We arrived there at 2:40. There was absolutely NO TRAFFIC and it still took us over 1/2 hour to get there. Thank goodness this wasn't a life or death situation. The rate at which Spring Hill is growing and the distance from primary health facilities is more than enough reason to give us the hospital that we deserve. |

| As an employee of Maury Regional Hospital and a resident of Columbia I was opposed to a hospital being built in Spring Hill.I ,like most people who worked at the hospital, would say Spring Hill is to small and we can take care of them better than anyone else. Well, now I have moved on to a better job and a new place to call home and that is Spring Hill and I really understand why Spring Hill needs a hospital, badly. As a healthcare worker for over 20 years I can see why a hospital is needed here. I often wonder if I need help in a hurry where would I go and how fast can I get there? How would an emergency crew get to me in all the traffic that is increasing everyday? If I have a car accident how fast can the EMTs get to where I am and how fast can they get to Maury or to Williamson? What am I to do if it is 2am and I am having a medical issue and every medical office, clinic and building is closed, how fast can I get help? That never worried me until I moved to Spring Hill. YES we need a hospital and we need one now before the unthinkable happens to me or to you! |

As a recent newcomer to Spring Hill, I am astounded a city this size doesn't have its own hospital. Last December I was struck with a severe stomach virus leading to dehydration and fever.
I personally think the sign that reads "enjoy your thirty minute drive" couldn't be more accurate. My wife, sick herself had to drag me into the car and get on the interstate for the 30 min drive to WMC. The entire way, I'm delirious from the fever and holding a garbage bag for the inevitable which happened trying to find a parking space.
Once checked in, she had to leave to be with our son. This left me to drive myself home at 1:00am in the snow. Weak and sedated, I had no business driving.
I truly hope the opposition will drop what fear they may have and the Spring Hill hospital can become reality. |

| It is disgusting that the need for a hospital is not in keeping with two other hospitals financial averice. Spring Hill is a growing community. Growing by leaps and bounds. The distance between Williamson County or Maury Regional is far enough to present several catastrophes. Yet, the only issues that have arisen seems to be placed into play by two competing hospitals to thwart the realization of a hospital for Spring Hill, because of their lack of caring and outright greed. |

1 year ago my wife injured her back and was in a lot of pain. I managed to get her into our car and headed for Maury Regional Hospital. She entered the emergency waiting room and we waited for an hour and a half for a bed to open. The waiting room was full of patients waiting to be seen and in that hour and a half NOT ONE PATIENT was called back to be treated.
Her only relief from the pain was on her back and there were no beds available on a Saturday afternoon. We left without being treated. Had there been a hospital in Spring Hill we could have saved the 25 minute trip each way, and been helped by a hospital that may have been properly staffed.
While waiting there we both agreed that this is not a good argument for MRH to keep us from having our own hospital. |
